On behalf of the Raymond James Canada Foundation, thank you for participating in Raymond James Cares month 2018! Since 2013, RJ Cares has showcased the hard work and generosity of our employees. This year, our colleagues from Victoria to Winnipeg to Montreal and everywhere in between, devoted their time to strengthen the communities in which we live and work.
Collectively, we exceeded our 2018 goal by completing 2,878 volunteer hours in support of over 100 charities and non-profits across the country! Over 500 Raymond James employees and associates made positive impacts in their communities by donating their time and talents to local charities. Visit RJCares.ca to see photos!
"From coast to coast, Raymond James employees and associates came together to help feed, clothe and care for those in need. We are very proud of your commitments to community, in May and throughout the year." says Janine Davies, Executive Director, Raymond James Canada Foundation.
Across the firm, RJ Cares month supported a wide variety of incredible causes, from food banks and cancer research, to animals and the environment, to vulnerable women and families.
Our volunteers helped the fight against cancer through the country-wide Ride to Conquer Cancer, and the Canadian Cancer Society in Vancouver. Communities across the country participated in environmental initiatives which included collecting over 100 pounds of garbage in conjunction with the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup.
2018 was a banner year for blood donations! Both experienced donors and first-timers rolled up their sleeves to give the gift of life with Canadian Blood Services. Across the country we donated 80 much needed units of blood, this is the most RJCares Month has ever donated!
Throughout the month, teams across the country collected different items to support those most in need in their individual communities.
In Toronto, we collected over 600 items for Bridge North battered woman's shelter. Our Calgary office made hundreds of sandwiches in support of lunch programs for the Mustard Seed, and in Montreal our colleagues organized a recycled Prom/Formalwear pop up called Promming it Forward. In Vancouver we collected over 1000 personal care items for the Lookout Housing and Health society to support individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and our team in Barrie supported the David Busby Street Centre with much needed sleeping bags, tarps and shoes. Kelowna, Barrie, Burlington and Ottawa collected donations for their local food banks – their incredible efforts resulted in over 1000 pounds of food for those in need!
These amazing organizations and initiatives work hard to help Canadians all across the country.
The Raymond James Canada Foundation extends a heartfelt thank you to all participants who gave their time and talents, and to the team captains who organized opportunities and groups across the country here at Raymond James. Our biggest thank you goes to the charities who invited us to support their good work. Please join us in congratulating our employees and associates for their efforts during Raymond James Cares Month!
Throughout the month, we supported Arts Umbrella, the Greater Vancouver YMCA, Ronald McDonald House, the Santropol Roulant, and many other community initiatives with donations of time, food, and cash.
